Jack FM from Oxford have asked to do an interview on their breakfast show next week and they are also interested in joining up with us en route, which should be good. The Oxford Mail are publishing an article in tomorrow's (Friday) paper, which should help raise the profile of the event - at least locally.
We've been going through the support driver logistics plan for the last few days. It's a recipe for chaos! But Si has been planning it meticulously, trying to ensure all the drivers stay within the regulation hours and are accommodated en route. The drivers are going to be key to the success of this venture, so it's vital to get this right.
Training is going well for most but for me personally not brilliant. Since my last crash I've had to get my rear wheel repaired. Having got it back this morning, I now find that the tyre keeps pinging off the rim. The shop must have done something (or failed to do something) when they took it all apart to replace the spoke. 3 times today this has happened! Apart from being very annoying, it is also a bit worrying, as if it happens going round a corner I could be sliding on the tarmac (again!). On our second ride out this evening it resulted in a puncture so I had to cut short my ride. I'm going to have to take it back in tomorrow morning and get the shop to sort it out. That means my planned 3 rides tomorrow is going to have to be cut down to 2 (assuming they repair the wheel straight away tomorrow).
We did some collecting outside the Co Op in Carterton today. Thanks to the generosity of the local Carterton residents we raised another £350 which is fantastic.
